Music is an important part of daily life for many people. It can get us moving, calm us down, spark reminiscence, and help us connect with our loved ones. Now music is under the microscope as scientists try to learn what music can tell us about our brains and about how we age.
In this course, Sarah Faber, PhD. (Simon Fraser University) will introduce the scientific study of music and music therapy, explain how to analyze music listening behavior, and discuss current research on the relationship between music and brain health in Canadian seniors. Participants will engage in musical activities and learn how to use music in daily life for wellness.
Please have available a laptop, tablet, or smartphone to participate in the practical components of the course.
