Live Theatre Discussions: Dittrich’s The Dissociates

Presenter: Monika Karpinska

Venue: Capilano University

Availability: Spaces Available

This year we will read Dorothy Dittrich’s The Dissociates, discuss, and then attend a live performance at the Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons. The play is a dark comedy about a woman in her 50s who tends to her garden as “six dissociated aspects of her personality come and join her to comment, help, sometimes to hinder her progress”. For our final discussion panel, we are joined by the director and 1 or 2 actors. Dittrich recently won a Governor General’s award for her play The Piano Teacher. She is a Vancouver Island resident, writer, musician and composer. The Driftwood Players are the Sunshine Coast’s resident community theatre group.
