The Middle East has been an international security trouble spot for most of the past hundred years. It has borne witness to the decline and fall of three empires and has been a focal point for religious, sectarian and ethnic conflict for centuries. While much of the international focus has been on the ongoing tensions and conflict between Israel and Hamas and other Arab entities and states, inter-Arab conflict has resulted in the deaths of even more people.
