Canada has played a significant role in the international security structure since the end of the Second World War, and that role has evolved as time has passed.  Canada belongs to a variety of security-related organizations, each of which has a defined role in the international security process. The course is intended to better inform the participants about how the international security structure works, in what organizations Canada is a member, what the various roles those organizations play in international security, and what the organizations have undertaken in the past eighty years, including successes and failures.

The organizations to be examined include the United Nations (particularly the Security Council structure), NATO, NORAD, OSCE, and other multi-lateral and bilateral agreements.
