The Use and Abuse of Social Media

The impact of social media is felt in every aspect of our lives. It is a tool that both connects us, and divides us. It affects how we communicate with one another. Social media creates silos of information.  It determines what we read, and how we read. It shapes what and how news is reported.  It can influence public opinion and voting habits. It shapes our perspective in an increasingly complex world. In this course, presenters will examine the use and abuse of social media in individual communication; journalism; and politics.
